The Air Diet – A Diet that will Leave You Gasping for Air!

I know you’ve tried practically everything just to shake off those unsightly post-holiday pounds. But if you think you’ve tried them all, even resorted to extreme diets in your desperation, well, wait till you hear about this. A new diet fad is on the rise and is said to have originated in the beautiful country of France – the Air Diet!

This French weight loss plan, referred to as L’Air Fooding or the virtual eating diet – apparently made popular by a Dolce & Gabbana campaign, featuring celebrities like Madonna spooning food up to their mouths but not actually eating it – has only one dish on the menu, and you have probably guessed which one by now.  I can see some raised eyebrows, I know right? I was flummoxed the first time I read about it.

The regimen is plain and simple. You lose weight by consuming nothing at all – read air! But there is a catch to it. You still go through the motions of eating, like placing food on your dining plate, slicing and cutting it, spooning (or forking, whichever you prefer) it, holding the food up to your lips without actually touching your lips.

If you have a knack for charades or simply love playing pretend when you were little, you will easily get the hang of this. So, okay you are allowed soup on the side, a water-and-salt soup, that is. The trick is to consume a bowl of this concoction each and every night and you could be on your way to dropping four sizes down before summer begins. And that is guaranteed.

The rationale behind this diet fad could be plain and simple too: the more oxygen that is supplied, the faster the fuel will burn. The extra oxygen we intake in turn burns the extra calories in our bodies. Sound rational indeed, but, as always, go consult with your medical practitioner before trying this one out.
